YANCH Geothermal
Transitioning to geothermal technology isn’t an overnight process, or as simple as buying new equipment. You will probably have questions, and we have the answers.
Geothermal systems work with nature, not against it. Instead of using combustion, we use energy from the sun that’s stored in the ground.
Our technology uses a minimal amount of hydro without burning fossil fuels, without adding to the conditions that cause acid rain, air pollution and the greenhouse effect.
A number of reasons, really. First of all, most fossil fuel furnaces are significantly oversized in relation to how much heat homes need, resulting in increased operating costs.
All heat pumps have efficiencies rated according to their coefficient of performance or COP. Basically it measures how much energy the system produces versus how much it uses.
Geothermal systems have COPs of 2.5 - 3.5, meaning for every single unit of energy used, 2.5 to 3.5 units are turned into heat. Simply put, that makes geothermal energy 300% efficient, while a fossil fuel furnace can only be 50-90 percent efficient.
To calculate your long term savings, divide the annual savings into the additional cost. You’ll also find the monthly savings in operating costs offsets the additional monthly cost in the mortgage, which frees up more cash flow.
When adding up your savings, also keep in mind that geothermal technology protects you from fluctuating and unpredictable fuel costs.
We pride ourselves on our systems being maintenance free. When installed properly, the buried loop will last for generations. Meanwhile, the unit's fan, compressor and pump are protected indoors from the harsh weather. The only maintenance you should need are periodic checks and filter changes.
